Bf109E-3/4 Commissioning Edition

£18.29

Kit Features:

  • 2x Messerschmitt Bf109E

  • Option parts for E-1, E3, E-7/Tropical Bf109

  • Full colour instructions

  • Die cut canopy masks

  • Decals by Cartograf

  • 2x Marking Schemes Included

Featuring many variant and option parts on the sprues, the kits can be assembled as any of the Bf109 “Emil” series. Additionally, the landing gear can be modelled as lowered or retracted, as well as optional bladeless propeller spinners to represent the aircraft in flight.

To aid painting, die cut canopy masks are included which fit the Bf109 late production style canopy.

This kit contains high quality waterslide decal markings made by Cartograf, for two aircraft:

  • Messerschmitt Bf109E-4: W.Nr.1433, Stab I./JG3, France, September 1940. Flown by Hauptmann Hans von Hahn.

  • Messerschmitt Bf109E-3: W.Nr.1526, Stab III./JG2, France, May 1940. Flown by Major Erich Mix.

The versatile and capable Bf 109 first flew in 1935 and was then improved over several variants up to the end of the Second World War. Well liked by pilots, it provided the mainstay of the Luftwaffe’s fighter aircraft squadrons throughout that time. By 1940, most Bf 109 units were equipped with the E-3 and E-4 variants of the “Emil.” These variants were well armed with both cannons and machine guns, as well as being fast and agile. However, early E models lacked combat endurance over Britain until later variants addressed this limitation. In skilled hands, the Bf 109 E was a formidable opponent and the aircraft played a pivotal role in the Battle of Britain.
